City ProjectsAt any given time the city will have numerous projects and initiatives underway. Some projects are entirely managed and funded by the City, while others are collaborative efforts with other local governments. From large to small, all of these projects have one goal in mind: to make Delta cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable for our residents, business owners, and visitors. Current City ProjectsAlternate Truck RouteProject Goals: The potential for a truck route and its appropriate alignment has been under discussion in the Delta area for several years. A number of potential alignments have been suggested, each with its own set of costs and benefits. The city believes an alternate truck route will greatly reduce truck volume on Main Street, create a safer and more accessible situation for North Delta, preserve the city's historic heritage, and revitalize Delta's beautiful Main Street. Project Status: City Council approved unanimously to enter into contract with Stantec Consulting Engineers, Inc. for the final design of the Alternate Truck Route at the December 18th regular meeting. Staff presented the Council with a scope of work and not-to-exceed cost proposal. After getting answers to their questions, Council voted unanimously to accept the scope of work. The Stantec team will be holding a "kickoff" meeting in the very near future to get the design underway. Design is expected to take 12 months to complete. The design team will hold several public informational meetings in order to garner further public input and to keep everyone informed. For more information visit www.deltatruckroute.com.
